Fate, Luck, and other stupid clauses.
In the cardgame of Life we sometimes seem to get dealt the "crap" hand, or, if you don't play cards and want it in simpler terms, everyone gets shit on now and again. For those who get shit on a lot it sometimes seems like no one gets shit on more than them, but that is not always true. Sometimes your perspective is just lessened due to the fact that you can't see over all the shit piled on top of you, and when you can all you can see is the people who are not shit on as much. Trust me, there are just as many people getting shit on as you but you can't see them because of all the shit that is, in turn, piled on them. Now that the feces analogy is beaten to death let's step back and take a look at this phenomenon.
According to Galactic clause #BFD378-21Q (also known as Fate and/or Luck) there are certain percentage levels of people in the galaxy that have to take it in the rear for the Universe to stay in balance. If this happens to be you then it is often taken to be that you are constantly taking it in the rear, but the truth is that you are actually doing your part to keep the Universe on the straight and narrow. This is, more often than not, a cold comfort to most people.
The way I see Fate is as a ghostly figure wrapped in a shroud (think Death but with a sense of irony) who is always giving me the middle finger. For me it sometimes seems like the people who have all the luck are the ones who lack the mental fortitude to walk and chew gum at the same time. You know...The ones who, after talking to you for an hour on a subject that they know nothing about, wonder why you have the gleam of murder in your eye. We'll use an example. Lets call our guy Bob (for reasons that I will explain in another blog). Bob is a mental giant (sarcastic tone in voice), so that when we have conversations I feel like I have to explain everything in detail. And even as I am explaining these things to Bob I feel a simultaneous eqausion to throwing a rock at a mountain trying to make it fall. In a sense both are futile. Yet Bob is the type of person that everything seems to go right with. His shit always comes up as roses. Some would call this Luck, and others would call this unfair, but I see it differently.
The way I see it is that Bob doesn't have what it takes to be one of the people that get shit on. He couldn't handle it, and when he snaps the Universe takes a hit. Thus Fate doesn't see fit to place this heavy burden upon shoulders such as Bob's because this would mean sure catastrophe for the Galaxy. Thus certain people are burdened with Bob's share of shit because we can take it. See...Fate does have a sense of irony.
So don't get discouraged. Clauses like Fate and Luck are just there to keep the worlds spinning, not as personal attacks on you. Hell, these are actually compliments toward your ability to overcome and outshine. Plus, there are other clauses that mean (simply stated) that everyone gets their turn on the merry-go-wheel. Just be patient, make some sculptures, bide your time, and one day the Galaxy will take swing toward your direction.
